Platinum

Platinum is a precious metal with properties making it ideal for use in the design of diamond jewellery. Unlike 18 carat gold, platinum is used in a higher concentration, predominantly at 95% (950) of its pure form.

Platinum has a distinctive white colour. Its density makes it strong and heavier than gold, but its softness allows it to dint and scratch easier, requiring ongoing maintenance.

It is exceptionally good when used in certain jewellery-making applications due to its properties. Being a crisp white metal, it does not require rhodium plating like 18 carat white gold. It is ideal for use in both filigree and two-tone jewellery designs.

Platinum engagement rings and platinum diamond jewellery are extremely popular and attract a higher cost than 18 carat gold jewellery items.
